A total of 78 Watsonville business have completed the rigorous certification process. In order to become a Green Business, the businesses must implement a host of recycling, energy conservation, pollution prevention, and green purchasing measures.
The Green Business Program staff also verifies that applicants are fully in compliance with all local regulations through the City's Source Control Manager, Recycling Coordinator, and the Air Resources Board. The certified businesses set an excellent example for other businesses. In Watsonville, the program has excelled in its goal to make the program reflect the makeup of the community. With businesses ranging from non-profits, small retail, large manufacturing, the state's first Green Certified Community Event and now PVUSD will be the first multi-school school district to be certified in the state of California!
