Community Advisory Committee
The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is an advisory group made up of parents, educators, and community members who provide input to the Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).

What the CAC does:
- Allows for the Development & Review of the SELPA Local Plan for Special Education.
- Assisting in parent education and in recruiting parents & other volunteers who may contribute to the implementations of the Local Plan.
- Advising the administration of the SELPA regarding the development amendment & the review of the Local Plan. The SELPA shall review and consider the input from the CAC.
Activities by the CAC may include:
- Providing families & the community to share resources and support.
- Reviewing and commenting upon SpEd policies under consideration for adoption by the PVUSD board of trustees.
- Working toward positive system improvement and change.
Who Can Participate:
- Parents & Families of Children with disabilities & Adults with Disabilities
- Special Education Teachers, General Education Teachers, Other Staff Members, Agency Representatives.
- Community members interested in the quality & improvement of Special Education Services.
MEMBERSHIP
Meetings are open to parents of children with and without disabilities, educators, agency representatives, and other members of the community. Voting members are selected and approved by the school board of each district.We encourage all individuals who are interested in supporting the education of children with disabilities to participate.Interested in becoming a Parent Ambassador for the Community Advisory Committee (CAC)?
The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is seeking Parent Ambassadors to improve communication between families and schools. Parent Ambassadors volunteer by attending monthly meetings, sharing vital information, and supporting families with understanding special education programs and resources. This role helps strengthen partnerships, advocate for student success, and ensures parent voices shape services for students receiving special education.
