Mariposa's Art

Mariposa's Art provides after-school arts & music programs where youth learn to express themselves, creatively problem-solve, make healthy choices, and positively affect their communities.  Through Mariposa's Art, a program of Arts Council Santa Cruz County, hight school students become leaders, mentors and role models by co-teaching with professional artist in schools that have little or no funding to support the arts during the regular school day.  Mariposa's Art programs provide high quality arts education and vital developmental assets.  By aiming to align curriculum with the CA State Board of Educations's Content Standards for Visual & Performing Arts, students learn a variety of skills in the arts along with important history and culture lessons.
Fitness 4 Life

Fitness 4 Life

F4L is dedicated to youth developing skills for a healthy future and is one of the Healthy Behavior Initiatives Learning Centers.  F4L serves over 15 after school sites.  The over 2000 students that participate yearly are in kindergarten-8th grade . These students' take part in various alternative high-energy triathlon-training activities.  Activities take part on a& off school sites and include; swimming, biking, table tennis, hiphop dance, sports, soccer, exercise and fitness. Weekly, 400 students are bused to Watsonville High School to have a chance to learn nutrition education, swim and bike.  Every spring students take part in our 2-day annual triathlon.  Youngsters in our program have improved their health and are making healthy lifestyle choices.

Watsonville Environmental Science Workshop

The Environmental Science workshop is a unique place that allow children to explore, create and engage them in hands-on science learning while gaining knowledge on how to re-use materials in creative ways.  Providing students with rich environment that stimulates their curiosity.  Showing students things they would normally not see in their school or home environments.  Encouraging students to challenge some of their doubts and fears, gain competence, experience success, and with these achievements, build solid confidence of their own ability & potential.

Wetlands Stewards

Wetlands Stewards has three focus areas:
 
1) Educate students on the topics of watershed ecology and wetlands conservation
2) Promote wetlands stewardship actions and activities among youth
3) Prepare high school students with life and work-readiness skills while exposing them to environmental conservation vocational and career paths.
 
This program offers quarter-long filed trip oriented programming to 300 elementary and middle school students yearly.  Our vision is to build environmental leaders by fostering stewardship early on and providing continued opportunities for student to get involved in protecting the local wetlands.

Watsonville TEC

Watsonville Tecnologia, Educacion, Comunidad (TEC) is using technology to transform learning, motive communities, and inspire innovative thinking.  TEC's goal is to provide the technology skills and supports necessary to encourage students to pursue higher education and careers in technology.  TEC's Tech Teach program users a multigenerational approach where trained high school students (near-peers) facilitate a weekly afterschool class where they provide instruction and role modeling to 5th grade students.  In Tech Teach, students learn about computer science and social justice principles and develop technology projects that address a social justice issue in their community.  The program increase the interest and ability of 5th grade and high school near-peers to use computing for social good"
After School Academic and Enrichment Program
