WHAT IS IT?

The Tech Academies listed below are offered by the PVUSD District Technology Innovation Coaches! Sign up for an Academy by completing this short form. Although not required, we recommend signing up with teachers from your site.  The length of each Academy can vary depending on the tools chosen and number of participants (approximately 2 hours per session). You will meet with a Tech Coach to customize the Academy to suit your needs and select training dates. All Academies include in-class support and supplemental pay for sessions outside of contract hours. Have questions? Email dtic@pvusd.net.

Tech Academy: Tools for K-2
Session 1: Curriculum Integration
Learn the best tools to support SIPPS, Benchmark, and Bridges lessons.
(Examples: Seesaw, Flip, Footsteps, Epic Books, Jamboard, digital math tools)

Session 2: Showcasing Learning
Learn the best tools for students to showcase their learning, including tech projects that are ideal to wrap up units in any curricular area.
(Examples: Book Creator, Flip, Slides)
Tech Academy: Tools for 3-5
Session 1: Curriculum Integration
Learn the best tools to support Benchmark and Bridges lessons.
(Examples: Flip, Screencasting, Jamboard, Kahoot, Pear Deck, Kami, Padlet)

Session 2: Showcasing Learning
Learn the best tools for students to showcase their learning, including tech projects that are ideal to wrap up units in any curricular area.
(Examples: Book Creator, Sites, Adobe Express)
Tech Academy: Tools for Secondary
Session 1: Curriculum Integration
Learn the best tools to support District curriculum and classroom management: Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Sciences
(Examples: Flip, Screencastify, Edpuzzle, Forms, Quizizz, Pear Deck, Kami, Classroom Relay)

Session 2: Showcasing Learning
Learn the best tools for students to showcase their learning, including tech projects that are ideal to wrap up units in any curricular area.
(Ideas: Book Creator, Sites, WeVideo, Screencasting+Slides, Adobe)
Tech Academy: Coding
Session Options: 
  • Learn how to use the coding equipment found at your site (include site list of equipment).  
  • Teach coding concepts with digital tools such as Scratch and Scratch Jr.
  • Learn how to use the district Piper kits to teach circuitry and coding through Minecraft. (Chris from Piper says he is available for some trainings)
Tech Academy: Teach with Video
Increase student engagement and learning during in-person instruction by harnessing the power of instructional videos to make your direct instruction available to students on-demand! Develop a library of quality instructional videos and a plan for making them accessible to your students. Additionally, empower your students to create their own videos to showcase their learning.

Tech Academy: Making Learning Accessible for All
Make your lessons more accessible with audio, visuals, accessibility tools, providing multiple ways to express oneself, and opportunities for speaking practice. 

Examples: Mote, Flip, Screencastify, Immersive Reader extension, Padlet
Tech Academy: Gamification
Gamify learning to increase student engagement, improve learning outcomes, and personalized instruction.

Tech Academy: Stop Motion Animation
Students can use stop motion to retell a story, explain a historical event, show math concepts and so much more! In this Academy you will learn how to create stop motion animation movies using the equipment you already have on-site.  From the initial step of storyboarding to the final phase of publishing the finished movie, this Academy will give you all the tools and know-how to have your students create their own stop motion movies using Stop Motion Studio.
Tech Academy: AI in the Classroom
Are you curious about AI? Integrating Artificial Intelligence into the classroom has become a transformative way to enhance the learning experience and save time. Learn how to use ChatGPT and tools powered by AI to support instructional design, student engagement, and assessment strategies. Learn how AI can be used to foster critical thinking skills among your students.
