National Science Standards

nextgensci_logo.pngThe Next Generation Science Standards are going to be the nationally-adopted "common core" standards in science. The first draft of the NGSS were released on May 11, and are open for public comment until Friday June 1. They are based on The New Framework for K-12 Science Education, the final version of which were released in July 2011. The NGSS are based on the New Framework and their development is being guided by the National Research Council, with partners AAAS, NSTA and Achieve.

Einstein archive now online!

March 20, 2012: The Hebrew University (in Jerusalem), which owns an archive of over 81,000 of Albert Einstein's original manuscripts, letters and other papers, has now digitized the entire archive and put it online for all to use. The archive digitization project is a joint project between Hebrew University, Cal Tech and Princeton University.

The archive is available online at alberteinstein.info.

SOTU & Education

January 27, 2012: National Academy Press, the publishing arm of the National Academies of Science, has an interesting web page with President Obama's recent State of the Union address (SOTU), including relevant NAP publications on the various topics the President addressed.
