Granite Rock Corp. Supports SWEET Project With Generous Donation

The SWEET Program has been implemented in eight schools throughout the district over the last two years and when the last award from the State was cut by $35,000.00, project coordinators contacted the Granite Rock Corporation requesting assistance with making up the fund deficit. Leaders from the Watsonville based company visited Rolling Hills Middle School to see the first year SWEET program in action. Bruce Woolpert, in his letter announcing the support, commented that the SWEET Program “provide(s) an opportunity to accelerate student progress” and “that the technology did increase student interest and participation.” It was these observations and the program software MyAccess! that convinced Granite Rock to support the program by covering the full $35,000.00 deficit. The funds will support one of the two laptop carts going into service at Aptos Junior High.
