Semester 2 Summative Assessments:
Teams of teachers have been working on finalizing this year's editions of the HSS District common assessments. Completed assessments will arrive at your school sites in time for the assessment testing window of May 14-18. Answer sheets will soon be available to be printed from Data Director, and completed answer sheets need to be scanned into Data Director by May 25.
2012-13 HSS Pacing Calendars:
We have begun the process of developing pacing calendars for HSS classes, grades 6-12. Department chairs will ask their HSS colleagues to give input, and draft pacing calendars will hopefully be sent to all appropriate teachers in April or May for review and final approval.
2012 Student Contest on the State Budget
From Next 10, a non-partisan, nonprofit organization focused on critical issues facing all Californians, this announcement of their 2012 Student Contest on the State Budget!
This year they are accepting a variety of entry types – short stories (fiction & non-fiction), blogs posts, essays, poetry, song lyrics, comic strips, videos, and other mixed media (w/ a 750 word maximum). The only requirement is that all entries must reference the state budget.
What do students gain from the State Budget contest?
Next 10’s Student Contest is an opportunity for students to learn, be engaged and share their solutions and opinions around state budget issues that ultimately affect their future. We will post select entries on the Next 10 website. And there are prizes! We will award $100 Visa gift cards to contest winners (1 winner for every 100 entries received), plus a $100 Visa gift card for classroom supplies to the teacher who has the most student entries.
