PVUSD NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE - 9/7/17

PVUSD and CSEA met on August 10, August 30, and September 6 to continue negotiating reopeners for the 2016-17 school year.


Compensation/Benefits (Tentative Agreement 09/06/17): To ensure the best compensation package for our Classified staff the District and CSEA tentatively reached agreement on the following:

 

Compensation/Benefits (Tentative Agreement 09/06/17): To ensure the best compensation package for our Classified staff the District and CSEA tentatively reached agreement on the following:

  • $1600 one-time off schedule Bonus
  • Up to an additional $1600 pro-rated per Full Time Equivalent(FTE) one-time off schedule Bonus

(For purposes of calculating the FTE, any employee .75 or greater will be considered a full time equivalent)

  • No changes to Health & Welfare Benefits

***For example: A continuing full time Classified employee will receive a one-time BONUS of

$3200.00 with NO changes to benefit coverage.

 

 
   

 

The District continues to work hard to reduce the projected deficit amount through various means, including line-by-line scrutiny and zero-based budgeting. As shown in the chart below, the District efforts have paid off as demonstrated by the District’s and CSEA’s signed Tentative Agreement. The District is confident it can afford the Tentative Agreement, despite the current projection for deficit spending, as this is a one-time bonus.

 

Other Proposals:
Negotiations with CSEA have been productive. On August 30, 2017, the Parties signed off on the following: Article IX: Leaves (ensuring compliance with recent statutory changes). CSEA presented information on their proposals: Article III: Organizational Rights; Article XII: Vacations and Article XIX: Professional Growth. The District also presented information on its proposal: Article VIII: Hours & Overtime.


The District looks forward to an on-going exchange of ideas, through negotiations, in the effort to continue providing a meaningful education for its students and a safe and healthy working environment for its staff. We look forward to our next meeting with CSEA on September 15, 2017. The District offered to resume negotiations with PVFT in early September, including September 12th. The District looks forward to resuming negotiations with PVFT on a mutually agreed upon date.
