REQUIREMENTS

1. A valid California Teaching Credential or Temporary County Certificate

   (available at the Santa Cruz County Office of Education:

   809 H-Bay Avenue,  Capitola CA 95010 (831) 479-5248

 

2. Certification of Passing CBEST (ask how to apply for a CBEST waiver)

 

3. Social Security Card

 

4. Valid California Driver's License or passport

 

5. A copy of current tuberculosis test, take within the last 12 months

   (drop in services available at the Santa Cruz Health Clinic: 1080 Emeline

   Santa Cruz CA (831) 454-4100 and at the Health Clinic: 9 Crestview

   Watsonville CA (831) 763-8400

 

6. Fingerprints taken at the time of returning application

 

7. Two references

You will also need to have two (2) references call our office at (831) 786-2100 Ext 2650 .  These references should have knowledge of your ability to work with children/young adults in a work or volunteer capacity.

 

The application of each candidate will be held in strict confidence.  All applications will be careful screened.  District representatives may contact previous employers to gather information regarding performance. 

 

Upon completion of the application process and with the clearance from the Department of Justice, your data will be added to our automated substitute system.  At that time you will also receive a packet in the mail, which will include a welcome letter, registration instructions to the automated system, and an example of our time sheet.
