Curriculum and Instruction:  Textbook Adoptions

Our district adopts new textbooks each year in grades K-8 in alignment with the California state textbook adoption calendar.  During the 2006-07 school year we are reviewing and choosing new science textbooks.  In 2007-08 we will review and adopt new math textbooks and in 2008-09 we will review and adopt new language arts textbooks. The state of California does not have a formal adoption process for high school textbooks.  In PVUSD the high schools generally follow the K-8 adoption calendar ordering new science books, for example, during the same year that elementary and middle schools are ordering them.
