                <title>PVUSD ANNOUNCES ITS SEAL OF BILITERACY CEREMONY</title>
                <description><![CDATA[The Pajaro Valley Unified School District will be recognizing 65 graduating seniors as the 2013 recipients of the Seal of Biliteracy. This is the third year of the award in PVUSD. The Seal of Biliteracy is an award established by the district school board in order to &amp;ldquo;recognize and encourage linguistic proficiency andcultural literacy.&amp;rdquo; It is given to graduating seniors who have met rigorous standards demonstrating competency in reading, writing, listening and speaking in two languages. Recipients and their parents have been invited to a ceremony recognizing their achievement during which they will be awarded a medallion by board members. In addition to the medallion, which is to be worn during graduation,students will receive a seal on their high school diplomarecognizing their achievements and a notation on their official transcript.                 <title>AHS Robotics Team Takes Top Honors at the 13th Annual Monterey Regional Underwater Robotics Competition</title>
                <description><![CDATA[Congratulations to the AHS Robotics team and advisor Joe Manildi who, yet again, took top honors at the 13th annual Monterey Regional Underwater Robotics Competition!!! Hosting the competition at AHS for the first time gave the team a nice &amp;ldquo;home field advantage.&amp;rdquo; After some of their robot appendages became disassembled in the first of two missions the team responded with a calm and poise that would even have impressed top NASA and MATE engineers! They bounced back with a near perfect score in the second underwater mission, nabbed a win in the poster competition, a win in the safety competition,and a near win in the engineering evaluation &amp;ndash; this allowed them to run away with the overall title for the weekend! Way to go Joe and team! They are on their way to compete in the ROV International competition being held inTacoma,Washington. They are currently fundraising to send 13 students to the competition, andare looking for sponsors and donations.Look for details on the forpizza night at Village Host pizza and a donation/ Giveaway with prizes.Checks can be mailed to AHS Robotics.                 <title>KINDERGARTEN and Transitional KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT 2013-2014</title>
                <description><![CDATA[KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT On March 1, 2013, Kindergarten enrollment begins for the 2013-2014 school year. A child is eligible to begin Kindergarten if his/her fifth birthday falls on or before October 1, 2013. The enrollment process begins at your home or resident school. Each school will also have a Kindergarten Round Up where you will have the opportunity to register your Dates and Information for Kindergarten Information 13-14 Kinder &amp;ndash; TK Registration Flyer Transitional KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT If your child turns 5 on or between October 2nd and December 2nd, your child is eligible to attend &amp;ldquo;Transitional Kindergarten.&amp;rdquo; In 2010, California passed the Kindergarten Readiness Act, which gradually shifts the birthday cut-off for kindergarten enrollment: o For 2013-2014 all children entering kindergarten must turn 5 on or before October 1. o For 2014-2015 and beyond, all children entering kindergarten must turn 5 on or before September 1. During the district&amp;rsquo;s Kindergarten Round Up or enrollment window, which begins in March for the 2013-2014 school year, you can enroll your child in Transitional Kindergarten (TK).
