Most PVUSD libraries have been using InfoCenter as their library automation system to check out/in library books. InfoCenter was purchased five years ago and has not seen many updates from the company since PVUSD purchased it. The server is now slow and the software can get easily corrupted. It also is not compatible with recent operating systems such as Windows 7. Time to upgrade!
Now all PVUSD libraries (except WHS and PMS which already have the Destiny) will be moved to a new server and system known as Destiny. Destiny is a more feature-rich and powerful library circulation system and promises to be a great improvement for all libraries. It is also the main library circulation system developed and sold by Follett (Follett purchased InfoCenter – their competitor-- right after we purchased our licenses five years ago).
Library Media Techs will receive training on the new system in August after the data from infoCenter has been converted and imported into Destiny. The 2012/13 school year will open with a new and improved system for libraries, trained staff and a well supported system.
