The GATE Advisory Council (“GAC”) is the advisory group of
parents, teachers, administrators and other interested stakeholders that
meet several times a year to learn what we are doing in the GATE Services
Office, and to give us advice and guidance on how to proceed.
We invite all interested people to join us at our meetings. Each meeting
listed below will be held in the School Board Room on the first floor of
the PVUSD District Office,

pm.

From California State Ed Code for Gifted and Talented Education (EC 52205[2][f]):
Section 6: Parent & Community Involvement: Districts provide procedures to ensure consistent
participation of parents and community members in the planning and evaluation of programs for gifted students.
From the PVUSD GATE Plan:
- Name of Organization
- The name of this organization shall be the Pajaro Valley Unified School
District GATE Advisory Council, hereafter referred to as the GAC.
- Mission
- To provide services and support structure to meet the needs of the Pajaro
Valley Unified School District GATE students, parents, guardians and teachers.
This will be achieved by creating a “mutually supportive and respectful”
partnership between parents, guardians, teachers and schools. (California
Education Code Section 51101(14).
- Purpose
- To advise the district on the following: criteria used for student qualification,
initiating ideas, reviewing the site, district and state plans, and evaluating
programs of the Pajaro Valley Unified School District GATE Program. The many
purposes of GAC will be performed in accordance with the requirements of the
approved Pajaro Valley Unified School District GATE State Application.
The GAC is a vehicle to disseminate information to as many parents, students,
staff and community members as possible.
- Limitations
- Unless otherwise provided by law, GAC shall have no role or authority except
to advise the Superintendent of the Pajaro Valley Unified School District.
All actions of the GAC shall be consistent with the policies of the School
District Board of Education, the Education Code, and the Administrative Code.
The GAC is advisory in nature and will not have decision-making responsibilities.
- Membership
- The District GATE Advisory Council shall be composed of:
- One parent representative from each participating school
- Member(s) from the PVUSD school board
- District GATE Coordinator
- District GATE Resource Teacher(s)
- One site administrator or teacher from each school site
- Any parent is welcome to attend GATE GAC meetings
- Meetings
- The meeting schedule shall be determined by the GATE Coordinator.
Meetings shall be held a minimum of three times a year.
