Bound
The
College Bound Program is funded by a
five year federal grant. The program
is focused on improving academic success
and readiness for English Language Learners
so that they will be prepared to enter
universities upon high school graduation. Components
include:

Accomplishments
Literacy instruction
and motivational experiences for
all fourth and fifth grade students
at the three elementary schools,
including visits to the University
of California, Satna Cruz. Nearly
600 students will participate in
Kids Around the University this school
year.
Services to staff, parents and students to smooth transition
and understanding of academic expectations at the next educational
level: from elementary to middle, and middle to high
school.
Coordinated and collaboratively planned staff development
in:
- English learner strategies
and support for families
- Improved assessment use for
instructional and
program design
- Instruction centered on standards
Partnerships with universities, community organizations,
all district school and County Office of Education that increase
the impact of our common goal: to increase the number
of under-represented students attending four-year universities. Regular
articulation occurs across school lines at classroom and
management levels.
Systematic parent
education opportunities including
a fall conference for over 425 parents
with College Bound as its theme. This
was presented bilingually.
