Specific Partnerships – The success of the SWEET Program will be rooted in the multiple partnerships with local, state, and national entities that provide teachers, students, and parents with enhanced opportunities to develop writing skills connected to District requirements and State standards.

KUSP Radio StationKUSP will help students to showcase their writing on Susan Freeman’s show, Castle Cottage on Saturday mornings.
Central California Writing Project (CCWP)CCWP will provide writing consultants with technical expertise as members of the SWEET Planning team who will help design templates and writing tools for the Tool Kit.
Rural Technology Integration Project/AME(RTIP)RTIP will provide family literacy classes and curriculum and home computer loans for families to provide the home, school communication link in shared writing activities. AME is RTIP’s fiscal sponsor and partner in the family literacy projects.
PVUSD Extended Learning ProgramExtended Learning will coordinate the Family Literacy Nights and provide additional after school services for identified students.
City of Watsonville – The City of Watsonville will contribute the use of their three community technology labs at Marinovich Community Center, Ramsey Park Community Center, and the Enterprise Zone Community Center, for community and family access to Internet connected computers.
CTAP – The Monterey offices of the California Technology Assistance Program will assist with the evaluation of the grant.
Pajaro Valley Chamber of Commerce – The PVCOC will continue to seek out and establish Adopt-a-School partnerships between local businesses and the PVUSD middle schools, especially in the enhancement of language arts and support of student writing related to family and community.

 

How partnerships will Support the Comprehensive Program – In addition to the specific contributions described above, SWEET Program staff will meet with program partners quarterly to discuss the success of the program toward achieving its Performance Objectives, challenges to reaching those outcomes, suggestions for additional partnerships, and identification of future funding sources to expand and sustain the initiative. A SWEET project web presence will be established through the PVUSD web site, linking to all project partners. In turn, all project partners will include a brief description of the project on their web sites with links back to this site.

 

Private Schools - Several private schools will join our teachers at the in service events and we will share our information with them
